Walking Support being located in the Scottish Borders has a strong interest in the many varied and beautiful walks that
this region has to offer. Since 2005 Walking Support was been heavily involved in the Scottish Borders Festival of Walking.
We have been involved in offering guiding at the Jedburgh event and have been part of the steering group over the last several years.
The 2009 event was called "In the Footsteps of the Reivers" and spanned two weekends centred across the Borderline
from Newcastleton to Yetholm. It was held between Saturday 5th to Sunday 13th September 2009 and was enjoyed by those who attended.
The 2010 event was located in a single centre at Peebles and covers the upper Tweed Valley countryside. The dates were the
4th to 12th September 2010 and apart from two days when there was some heavy rain this proved to be a very sunny week.
John Henderson of Walking Support guided two of the longer walks, these being as follows.
These two walks were well supported as was the overall event, delivering close on 1000 walkers over the week.
- Traquair to Tibbie Shiels - Wednesday 8th September - 11 miles / 17.5 km
- John Buchan Way - Saturday 11th September - 13.5 miles / 22 km
The 2011 event is based in Hawick.

Below are only a few photos taken from the Festival Week 2010 & 2005. As it can be seen from the images the weather
was on the whole very good for both these years, although even on a very wet day the enthusiasts enjoyed walking
the wonderful open countryside in Tweeddale and the Cheviot Hills respectively.
